New Haven Schools Foundation awards over $8000 in grants recognizing “Innovations in Education”
Union City, Calif., March 25, 2014 – The New Haven Schools Foundation (NHSF) delivered mini-grants totaling over $8000 to teachers and classrooms during February and March. This annual tradition recognizes innovative ideas for learning that may not be covered by normal classroom and school budgets, and winning a grant is an exciting event for the student beneficiaries.
Money for these classroom grants comes from donations to the Foundation, fundraising events, and corporate and government partners. The winning projects this year were primarily focused in the areas of science and math, demonstrating increased interest in making learning these often-difficult subjects fun.
This year’s grant winners included the following:

This holiday season, the best gift you can give your child is a good education. And the best place to get that education is in school. Every day. On time. Building a habit of good attendance is your child's ticket to success in school and eventually on the job. But every year, absences spike in the weeks before and after winter break. It's time to break that cycle.
If you're wanting to call your childs absence from school, please call the school at
(510) 475-9630 and leave a message on the absence line.
